Financial services company Block (previously Square) is looking for specialists to launch the next-gen bitcoin mining ASIC (application-specific integrated circuit) system.
The company posted several job announcements on Linkedin looking for a custom digital design lead and digital product designers.
In an earlier post the team was looking for a lead of global fulfillment and logistics for a hardware wallet. The specialist would be responsible for developing and implementing a supply chain and logistics strategy for the wallet’s growth globally.
Block has a goal to build a purpose-built ASIC only for BTC mining.
The CEO of the company, Jack Dorsey first announced plans for developing a BTC mining system in Oct. 2021. Then he noted that the new system would provide more distributed mining. It would be open-source, and the team would cooperate with the community during the development.
Also, Dorsey mentioned that the system would make mining more available and efficient. It will be based on green energy, thus improving Bitcoin’s scalability and economics.
Previously, Square announced an initiative for Bitcoin Clean Energy and its intention to invest $10 M to support companies that are focused on making the BTC ecosystem based on renewable energy.
