Gucci will accept over ten cryptos including Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), Shiba Inu, Dogecoin, and five US dollar-pegged stablecoins. To support payments, the store will send a link via email to the buyer. It will include a QR code using which the customer can make the payment from their cryptocurrency wallet. The initial Gucci stores that will accept crypto are Wooster (New York), Rodeo Drive (LA), Phipps Plaza (Atlanta), Design District (Miami), and The Shops at Crystals (Las Vegas).

A retailer will be able to decide whether to keep the payments in crypto or change them to fiat.

Gucci has been using Web 3 technologies before, including NFTs and metaverse opportunities. In February the brand acquired land in the virtual space of the Sandbox to open a digital shop. Earlier in January, Gucci released two NFT projects to give customers special access to a Gucci collection before it becomes publicly available.

The Chief Executive Officer and president of the luxury house, Marco Bizzarri said Gucci is looking to explore new technologies and deliver enhanced experiences for customers.
