eBay CEO Says the Platform Might Accept Crypto

Leading e-commerce firm eBay considers adding crypto as a means of payment. The president and CEO of the firm, Jamie Iannone said in a phone interview with the financial news provider TheStreet that eBay aims to be the online shopping platform for generation Z and millennials.

eBay might make a statement on March 10, when it will host a virtual investor day. Iannone told TheStreet that the company is about to complete the change to implementing payments. Currently, eBay is managing $85 bln of volume. According to the executive, it is now able to provide new payment options. Iannone mentioned that Google Pay and Apple Pay are available on the platform and the company partners with

Australian Afterpay, which allows the option to buy and pay later.

The platform continues to evolve, adding new payment methods. eBay CEO said that the platform at present does not accept crypto, but on March 10, the team will talk about payments, advertising, and the main categories.

In May 2021, eBay revealed that it was keeping an eye on crypto and was exploring including crypto options on the platform. At present, the company allows NFT sales.
