At the same time, the spokesperson stated that the team studies the options for clients shopping on Amazon. The rumors spread after the firm posted a job announcement inviting a digital currency and blockchain product expert to join its payment team. Afterwards, some news publishers including London’s City A.M. newspaper, posted that Amazon is going to add crypto payments and release an in-built token. The news resulted in the BTC price surging over $40.000 for the first time in six weeks.

After Amazon's denying it, the price has dropped again. Currently, the coin trades at around $36.900 with a market cap of $695.3 B.
