Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said in one of his tweets that he is no longer a billionaire. Replying to a post of the Neoliberal Project about people analyzing tweets of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, Buterin wrote he appreciates them for responding to people, and not shouting their own stuff. He then added not being a billionaire anymore.

What happened to "talking directly to the people" being a virtue?

(btw I particularly appreciate that Elon and Jeff actually respond to people, and don't just shout their own stuff)
Buterin co-founded Ethereum in 2014. The coin reached its all-time high of $4891 in November 2021. Currently, it trades at around $1,974. Ether is the second largest crypto with a market cap of over $238 billion. Buterin mentioned previously that making money wasn't his goal while creating Ethereum. His goal was to help create decentralized financial systems and democratize the internet, as he told Time.
The recent fall of cryptocurrencies resulted in crypto billionaires losing a part of their fortunes. According to Bloomberg, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) lost over $80 bln, which presents 84% of his wealth.
