On May 7, New York-based investment manager VanEck has applied for Ethereum ETF with the SEC.

Earlier, at the end of 2020, the firm filed for Bitcoin ETF. The SEC hasn't approved it or any other BTC exchange-traded fund applications yet. As with the case of VanEck's Bitcoin ETF, for Ethereum ETF as well the company aims to partner with Cboe BZX Exchange.
The first Ethereum ETFs were authorized on April 17 in Canada. Currently, there are three of them presented by Purpose Investments, Evolve ETFs, and CI Global Asset Management.
There is a high demand for Ethereum. The price of the token reached a new all-time high of $3590 a few days ago. Its market dominance index stands at 16,89% presently.On May 5, American stock market S&P Dow Jones presented indices of BTC and Ether as well as index following their market caps.
