Coin Center, a crypto group performing research and advocacy, filed a suit against the US Treasury Department related to the Tornado Cash ban. The group together with people seeking privacy asked the court to delist the platform from sanctions.

Jerry Brito, Coin Center’s director-general tweeted that they are not only standing for privacy rights, but if this case is allowed, in the future the Treasury may sanction protocols like Bitcoin or Ethereum, and ban them without any public process. He added that the group intends to win the case even if they will need to go to the Supreme Court, and that they will inform the community about the process.

According to the document, the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control doesn't have authority to blacklist the crypto mixer, which relies on open-source, self-executing technology. Coin Center mentioned that the action goes against Amaricans’ right to privacy.
Previously, in August, the Treasury blacklisted Tornado Cash accusing the service of laundering large amounts of money in crypto.
