For now, the discovery is set to close on January 14, 2022. In the appeal, the sides ask permission by judge Torres to conduct one expert deposition on Jan. 19, due to conflicts in schedules of different experts and of the counsel. If granted, other deadlines wouldn't change.
Lawyer John Deaton shared the doc on Twitter. 16 expert witnesses will give testimonies. According to the current schedule, 15 of 16 depositions have been completed or planned to take place by January 14.
The media and the community have been discussing the case started in Deceber 2020 actively. Many raise the question of the rights of investors and wonder why the SEC views XRP as security but views Bitcoin and Ether differently.
Commenting on the news on Fox Business, journalist Charlie Gasparino said that if the SEC wins, it would mean that the agency theoretically can start enforcement actions against Ethereum and other crypto protocols.
During one of his recent interviews, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse mentioned he sees advancement and expects that the lawsuit will be over in 2022.
