Iranian law enforcement agencies have confiscated another batch of underground mining equipment.

According to the local news agency Tasmin, this illegal mining farm stole electricity from the state-owned company Tavanir.

In the Islamic Republic, power engineers, together with law enforcement officers, regularly conduct raids to find equipment for crypto mining, which is illegally connected to the power grid. During the last raid, 45,000 ASIC miners were confiscated.

The head of the Tavanir energy company, Mohammad Hasan Motavalizade, told reporters that the equipment consumed 95 MW of electricity per hour.

According to experts, the increase in the scale of underground mining in Iran is associated with the rise in the cost of cryptocurrencies and bitcoin, in particular. Officials accuse miners of damaging the state's energy system.

However, analyst Zia Sadr stressed. that crypto mining farms consume a small percentage of the country's electricity. Therefore, miners cannot inflict any damage to the Iranian power system.

Note that in the middle of last year, the law began to operate in Iran obliging miners to obtain licenses from the state, allowing crypto mining at reduced energy tariffs.
