According to the survey by the crypto exchange Gemini the past year was transformative for the crypto industry.

Around 30,000 adults participated across 20 countries. The results in the report say that around 44% of the crypto owners in the US bought crypto for the first time in 2021, in Latin America, the number is 46%, and in the Asia Pacific it is 45%.
47% of the people who intend to buy crypto for the first time in the following year are women.
The results indicate that countries like Brazil and Indonesia were leaders in crypto adoption with more residents owning crypto in comparison with the developed countries. Another factor for the growing crypto adoption is investments from venture capitals (VCs), particularly in Singapore (30%) and Israel (28%).
The report also mentions concerns around inflation as the main driver of adoption. The report found that the main barrier to investing in crypto, is the lack of education.
