Caracas Air, the largest aviation training center in Venezuela, has begun accepting the first cryptocurrency for training payments.

For those who choose the new form of payment, the school is ready to provide discounts and funding plans, said Oliver Laufer, co-founder, and CEO of Caracas Air.

According to the center’s website, about 900 students study there annually, and graduates make up 9 out of 10 new crew members of passenger liners.

“Caracas Air has two passions: aviation and Venezuela. We believe in the importance of starting, investing, and creating new quality opportunities in our country. And we do not believe that innovation can be avoided,” the company’s website says.

Despite the launch of the national digital currency El Petro in the country, bitcoin is popular among its residents. According to LocalBitcoins, in 2020, Venezuelan residents ranked second in terms of trading volume for the first cryptocurrency on the p2p trading platform.
