On April 21, the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) network recorded a new record for the number of transactions per day - 9.13 million. This is almost six times higher than the corresponding indicator of the Ethereum blockchain.

At the same time, the network of the second-largest crypto in terms of capitalization also has a daily record in the number of transactions. Users made 1.56 million transfers.

Ahead of Ethereum in the number of transactions in 24 hours was the largest based on the BSC project, the PancakeSwap platform. Its indicator on April 20 reached 2 million transactions.

After PancakeSwap became the leader in terms of blocked funds among DeFi protocols, experts differed in their estimates of real activity on BSC.

According to DeBank, the total value of frozen assets on decentralized platforms based on BSC is about $ 15.7 billion, and in the protocols of the Ethereum network - $ 53.45 billion.

The BSC mainnet launched in September 2020 as an alternative environment for deploying decentralized apps and DeFi services, offering lower fees than Ethereum.

Earlier, Messari analyst Ryan Watkins explained BSC’s advantages over a competitor by “magic of centralization” rather than “technological innovation.”
