Later filings by leading retail company Walmart unveil that the company intends to release its own crypto asset, NFTs, and enter the metaverse.

The company submitted filings with the USA Patent and Trademark Office at the end of 2021. Overall, Walmart presented 7 filings.

In one of them, the company applied for an online store that would feature virtual goods, like electronics, furniture, toys, and a lot more.

Walmart started to explore the possibility of being a part of the metaverse.

Earlier, in August 2021, the company posted a job post, informing that it was looking for a digital currency and crypto product specialist. Interest in NFTs and metaverse among retail companies has been surging. Leading companies, such as Gap, Nike, Adidas, and others started selling their non-fungible tokens.
