On May 20 Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin gave an interview to CNN business. Talking about the recent crash in the crypto market, Buterin said it didn't surprise him.

According to him, cryptocurrencies are in a bubble, and it's difficult to guess when they will rise. Buterin said it can happen at any moment.Ether went down to $1900 but then saw some increase and now trades at around $2600.
Over the interview, Buterin mentioned that technology has shown a great advance in previous years. He finds that crypto is nearly ready for the mainstream and it isn't a toy.
Talking about Ethereum's potential, Buterin said it is possible that the token will catch up and get ahead of BTC in market value.Turning to the issues that the crypto industry is facing, Ethereum co-founder noted the fact of retail investors having a significant influence on the market. One factor that causes volatility is Elon Musk's tweeting about them. However, Musk's influence won't be endless Buterin says.
Another topic the Ethereum co-founder referred to was the teams of different projects sending him various cryptocurrencies. In his view, it would be better to direct those sums to charity.
