US Movie Chain AMC to Allow BTC Payments by the Year’s End

One of the largest cinema operators in the world, AMC Entertainment aims to enable payments in Bitcoin for tickets by 2022.

The company’s chairman and CEO, Adam Aron disclosed the news during the conference related to the company's Q2 results. He said that the chain aims to have a framework to support BTC payments for online movie tickets till 2022.

Aron noted there is a high demand for purchasing cinema tickets with cryptocurrencies. At the moment, there is no more information on the process details.

AMC's revenue from the second quarter of the year reached $444 M. The 2020 Q2 revenue was $18.9 M.

The cinema chain also unveiled plans of opening over 12 locations in the US, Europe, and the Middle East by 2022. Founded in Kansas City nearly 100 years ago, AMC (American Multi-Cinema) is the largest movie exhibition company in the world with about 1,000 theatres.
