In early summer, El Salvador's parliament made a landmark decision, backing the presidential bill to legalize bitcoin.

However, society was ambiguous about the recognition of cryptocurrency as a legal tender. Many Salvadorans have taken to the streets to demand that the law be repealed.

The protesters represented the so-called Popular Resistance bloc. They walked the streets of San Salvador with posters on which the phrase "No to bitcoin" was written. The protesters met with MPs Anabel Belloso and Dina Argueta.

The protesters said that the President of Salvador Nayib Bukele ignored the opinion of the people and decided to legalize bitcoin without consulting citizens.

In addition, they urged the authorities to pay attention to the volatility of BTC. Investing in cryptocurrency is a kind of lottery, so it is unacceptable to accept it at the state level.

The Popular Resistance bloc has published a letter that says:

Bitcoin will help corrupt officials and dealers in arms, drugs, and people. It will also cause financial chaos, which will hurt people's wages, pensions, and savings, as well as low-income families and entrepreneurs.
