The New York Stock Exchange has filed a trademark application for a non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace and virtual goods.

In April 2021, the site released an NFT "in honor of the IPO of high-tech American companies." Each token contains Spotify, Snowflake, Unity, DoorDash, Roblox, and Coupang quote metadata and represents the exact moment the company went public.

“Providing a marketplace for downloadable digital goods authenticated with NFT; providing a marketplace of virtual and digital assets, works of art, collections and non-fungible tokens; development and design of virtual retail stores and showrooms,” the application says.

The announcement does not necessarily reflect a desire to launch an NFT marketplace. At the same time, it speaks of the site's interest in protecting intellectual property related to areas of interest.

Earlier, the NYSE allowed the issuance of new NFTs soon.
