Blockchain-powered fantasy football game Sorare announced that Gerard Pique made a $4.3 M worth of investment in the non-fungible token (NFT) site.

With this, Sorare’s total seed round reached $9 million. Recently the collector interest in the Ethereum-based NFT protocol has been rising regularly. Earlier this month Kylian Mbappé's collectible surged $65,000.It's not the first time Pique has invested in the sports world. Together with his partners at Kosmos he invested a huge amount in the renovation of tennis’ Davis Cup.
Sorare CEO Nicolas Julia says that Pique will help the platform strike the best deals with the leading sports organizations worldwide.Sorare was launched in 2019. It presents a soccer team management game with digital NFT cards that fans can collect and trade. This year the platform has expanded immensely with 80 clubs joined. Among them are Bayern Munich, Juventus, PSG, Porto, and others. Nicolas Julia informed that Sorare has 2,000 monthly active users and sold $1.5 million worth of cards last month.
