New-York based crypto platform Gemini partners with Colombia's largest commercial bank, Bancolombia, thus allowing Colombians to trade BTC, Eth, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash.

Services will become available from Dec. 14. From that day on, a certain group of the bank's users will be able to access crypto trading via the Gemini platform. As Gemini revealed on Dec. 6, the collaboration is part of a year-lasting pilot program run by a Colombian government agency, the Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia. Unveiled at the beginning of the year, the program selected 9 crypto trading venues, among them Gemini, Binance, and Bitpoint.
As Gemini wrote, the collaboration is a major step for the company to expand its role in Latin America. The region is known for its crypto-friendly approach. Latin American country El Salvador was the first country in the world to legalise Bitcoin.
Last month, Gemini raised $400 M in growth equity funding led by blockchain and digital assets-focused hedge fund Morgan Creek Digital With the round, the company’s estimated valuation reached $7.1 bln.
