Forbes Crypto Billionaire List Includes 7M More Names

Forbes issued an official release of crypto billionaires for 2022. This year's list includes 7 million new names compared to last year. The list published on April 5 includes entrepreneurs who made their fortune from crypto.

Among the new people are founders of Web3 developer platform Alchemy Nikil Viswanathan and Joseph Lau and the NFT marketplace OpenSea Devin Finzer and Alex Atallah. Binance's Changpeng Zhao (CZ), FTX's Sam Bankman-Fried, and Coinbase's Brian Armstrong lead the list.

The wealthiest person in the industry is CZ, whose net worth is around $65 bln. He’s the 19th richest person worldwide. Zhao's source of wealth is Binance. According to Forbes, Zhao owns at least 70% of Binance, which is the top crypto trading platform globally.

In 2021, Binance carried out around two-thirds of the overall trading volume handled by centralized platforms. The revenue that Binance generated is estimated at $16 bln. Other names include FTX co-founder and CTO Gary Wang, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen, Gemini’s Winklevoss Brothers, Upbit founder Song Chi-hyung, etc.

Forbes mentions that there is no shortage of money in the crypto market either. Currently, the global crypto market cap stands at above $2 trillion.
