With the merge, Ethereum will move to Proof-of-Stake, and mining will stop being possible on the network. The merge is supposed to take place between Sept. 10 and 20. Before the event, the Ethereum must be first operated with the Bellatrix upgrade.
For Ether holders or users of Ethereum-based decentralized apps, the Foundation says they don't have to do anything. The team also cautioned users to check sources of instructions or recommendations in case they receive notifications on their app, exchange, or wallet.
Currently, Ether trades at around $1,700. In the last 24 hours the coin was up by 3%.
