The NFT space is rife with silliness and scams that were inherent on the internet from its inception to its significant transformation. This was stated by Brave CEO Brendan Eich in an interview.
“We are in the early stages of Web 3.0 and nobody knows what that means. Especially in the case of NFTs. The early days of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 also had a lot of frivolous sites and scams. This is what happens in border towns until you pave the streets and put up lights,” he said. The head of the company noted the presence of tribalism in the crypto community and emphasized Brave's desire to distance itself from such a concept of group isolation.
According to Eich, this could cause problems for the industry: “When you talk about crypto culture, there is no single community. Some are very enthusiastic about their project and see it as the only true path. I think it might go too far.”
