A closer study of this issue by the Japanese regulator was prompted by an increase in demand for cashless payments and growing attention to CBDC from other central banks.
The group will oversee the BOJ's work on its own digital currency, as well as participate in joint CBDC research with other central banks.
Recall that in addition to Japan, the CB currency's study group included the CB of Canada, the UK, the EU, Sweden, Switzerland and etc.
Earlier we wrote that Japanese authorities will include the problem of working with the CBDC in the official economic plan. The currency will enter the Honebuto economic recovery plan, which is part of Japan’s national strategy.
