In a blog post published on September 23, the Twitter staff product manager Esther Crawford said that the tips are available for everyone, enabling more payment options.By this, users can add a "tip jar" to their profile, so that others supporting their ideas and content can send tips.
Currently, people can carry out payments via Bandcamp, Cash App, Chipper, Patreon, Razorpay, Wealthsimple, Cash Venmo. People can also send Bitcoin tips by adding a BTC address directly to their profile or send coins through Strike, a payments app built on the Lightning Network. Strike is available in El Salvador and the US, except for Hawaii and New York.
It was noted in the blog post that Twitter’s approach is to provide everyone access to payments and cryptocurrencies encourage more people to take part in the economy.
It's important to note that payment service availability is different for various regions.
