The Hermitage

The State Hermitage is in talks with the Binance exchange regarding the issuance of NFTs and the sale of tokenized works of art. This is reported by "Interfax" concerning the statement of the head of the legal department of the museum Marina Tsyguleva.

She clarified that all exhibits are in the museum based on imperative management, but the Hermitage can create tokenized works based on what is stored in its collection.

“Relatively speaking, this will be a digital reproduction of a painting that has an autograph of the Hermitage director, put at a specific moment on a specific day. Then it can be used as a “souvenir” or as a collection of works,” Tsyguleva gave an example.

Non-fungible tokens will allow attracting additional funding for the restoration of the museum collection. However, this may require clarification of the legislation and the withdrawal of this type of tokens from regulation, added a representative of the Hermitage.

The NFT issue is being discussed with the Binance cryptocurrency exchange. In a comment to ForkLog, Binance Director for Eastern Europe Gleb Kostarev confirmed this information.

“Binance is in talks with the State Hermitage Museum. We do not disclose details, but we hope that it will be a truly unique project in the NFT market,” he said.
