The Paris Court of Appeal confirmed the decision of the first instance to imprison Russian citizen Alexander Vinnik for five years.
Citing Vinnik's lawyer Frederic Belo, the defense plans to file a cassation appeal.
According to Belo, the court made a "lazy decision" without understanding the "far from indisputable" evidence of the prosecution.
At the same time, the court confirmed that Vinnik was not responsible for the extortion of money using malware.

The defense will continue to fight to ensure that Vinnik is not transferred to Greece after the expiration of his term, since from there, he can be extradited to the United States.
"Here the judge did not meet us halfway, arguing that Greece is a member of the EU and its rights will not be violated there, without understanding that in this case, extradition to the United States and a difficult new process in extreme, not European conditions", - said Belo.
Recall that at the end of last year, a court in Paris found Vinnik guilty of money laundering, but dropped charges of extortion and creation of Locky ransomware.
