Ukrainian cyber police detained a 20-year-old student from Odesa on suspicion of hidden crypto mining. This was reported on the official website of the department.

“Having received a technical education, the young man used the acquired knowledge to commit illegal actions. As a member of hacker forums, he acquired malware and modified it. The virus was intended for hidden mining, ”the cyber police report said.

Law enforcers have opened criminal proceedings under Article 361-1 of the CC of Ukraine (the creation of harmful software or hardware for the purpose of distributing and marketing). The charge involves a prison term of up to five years.

Recall that last year, members of the judicial administration of Ukraine were suspected of mining cryptocurrencies on official computers.
