Non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace Rarible has unveiled its Nomine(eth) collection in honor of the Academy Awards.

Winners in the five major Oscar 2021 nominations will each receive one of two NFTs. The second token will be put up for auction for everyone.

Among the nominations:

  • Best Actor;

  • Best Supporting Actor;
  • Best Supporting Actress;
  • Best Director.

According to the organizers, the idea is that only the Oscar winner and the winner of the auction will own such NFTs from the collection.

Nomine(eth) includes a "special tribute" to actor Chadwick Boseman, best known for his role as Black Panther in the MCU.

On August 28, 2020, Boseman died at the age of 44 from complications from colon cancer. The organizers will send all proceeds from the sales of NFT with the actor to the Colon Cancer Foundation.

Previously, director, producer and actor Kevin Smith announced the release of his new horror film, Killroy Was Here, as an NFT.
