The content subscription service OnlyFans, which is very popular in the "adult entertainment" industry, is empowering its potential creators. According to an official statement from the developers, the startup has added a feature that allows you to set non-fungible tokens as a profile photo.
“We have begun to explore the possibilities of NFT technology for its further implementation in the functionality of our platform. We have allowed users to set their profile picture to an NFT product. For our part, this was only the first step towards a meeting in the "unknown". It is our responsibility to create all the necessary conditions for our users to reveal their talents and desires to the fullest,” said Ami Gan, CEO of OnlyFans.
Returning to the topic of “NFT avatars”, it must be emphasized that to implement this idea, the OnlyFans service had to enter into a partnership with the OpenSea API. Thus, it turns out that users will be able to set as a profile picture only those NFTs that were released based on the Ethereum blockchain. The authenticity of non-fungible tokens will be confirmed by the Ethereum logo - it will be displayed as a small sign directly on the “avatar” itself.
In this context, it is worth noting that as of August last year, there were 2 million content creators and about 130 million users registered on the OnlyFans platform.
