Latvian law enforcement officers have detained three suspects in the purchase of personal data on the darknet and the subsequent hacking of victims' accounts on various online platforms. During the arrest, the police seized 110 thousand euros in cryptocurrencies, according to the website of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The cybercriminals used the victims' data purchased on the dark web to gain access to their payment information, emails, and other data.
The suspects laundered the illegally obtained money through the purchase of the real estate, investments in gold and cryptocurrencies.
Law enforcement officers conducted 12 searches, as a result of which they seized cash in the amount of $37 thousand and 280 thousand euros, as well as funds in Bitcoin, ETH, XRP, and USDT.
The attackers acted from 2015 to 2020, and their victims were at least a thousand people, mainly from Western Europe and North America, police said.
The suspects face 3 to 12 years in prison.
