Latvian Airline airBaltic Accepts DOGE and Ether Payments

Latvian aviation company airBaltic announced today (March 29) about enabling Doge and Ether as a payment method.

The firm was the first to accept Bitcoin payments back in 2014. Then it added Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and four stablecoins backed by the USD: USD Coin (USDC), Binance Dollar (BUSD), Gemini Dollar (GUSD), and Paxos (PAX). So, in total, airBaltic now accepts 8 different cryptocurrencies.

The aviation company partners with cryptocurrency payment operator BitPay, which manages the change of virtual currency payments to fiat during ticket purchase.

The CEO of the company Martin Gauss said airBaltic is an innovative airline always looking for new ways to take the customer experience to a higher level. He also mentioned that about 1000 customers have used the payment option so far.

airBaltic connects the Baltic region with over 70 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The company's primary shareholder is the Latvian state, which holds 96.14% of the stock, while Lars Thuesen holds 3.86%.
