Optimism, one of Ethereum’s off-chain scaling solutions, that uses rollups techniques revealed, removing its whitelist. Now, anyone can deploy applications to the Optimism mainnet.

Originally Optimism launched with a whitelist, and only projects included in it could deploy smart contracts on the network.
In a blog post published on December 16, the Optimism team said that this way the network set immediate communication with the projects. It enabled the network to easily reach out to other teams and vise versa to plan updates and report flaws. Optimism says the whitelisted projects had a great impact on the development of the protocol. The scaling solution started carrying out tests around a year ago.
Now, allowing permissionless contract deployment, Optimism becomes closer to its goal to help Ethereum solve the issues of high costs and scalability.
Currently, many leading decentralized apps are using Optimism. Among them are UniSwap, Syntehetix, 1inch and others.
Optimistic rollups work in the form of smart contracts on Ethereum. They gather transactions, and optimize data, making the mainnet less congested.
