Eth Price Surpasses $1900, Heads to $2000

Ethereum (Eth) price reached a new all-time high of $1914. The token was up by 7.11% in a day and now trades at above $1890.

During this year the cost of the 2nd largest crypto asset by market cap increased by $160%, while BTC surged 78% at the same time.

On December 1, 2020, Ethereum launched a massive update named Ethereum 2.0. It suggests transformation from Proof of Work mechanism to Proof of Stake.

A few days ago digital currency exchange Coinbase announced to open a waitlist for ETh 2.0 staking.

On February 8, this year, major financial derivatives exchange CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) Group issued Ether futures. That day around 400 ETH contracts worth $33 Millon was traded. Considering the weekly trading volume, CME ether futures contracts surpassed $160 million in its first full week of trading.

The contracts represent 50 tokens. They are cash-settled and they work according to the CME Ether-Dollar Reference Rate — the platform's price detecting tool for ETH. The least block deal is five contracts.
