In Mexico, the popular retail chain Elektra has announced the introduction of a new payment method for purchases. Now all clients, without exception, will be able to make payments for purchased goods using the leading cryptocurrency - bitcoin. The purchase of goods, by the way, will be available not only in regular stores but on their official website on the Web.
As of today, it is known that control over the process of paying for purchases with Bitcoin will be entrusted to the American crypto-service provider Bitpay. Until the end of this month, stores also have a 20% discount on some goods, which can be obtained, only when calculating with the main digital asset.
“This is a big victory in banner marketing,” Salinas Pliego, founder of the Elektra retail chain, wrote in his Twitter account, commenting on the innovation.
Ricardo Salinas Pliego is not only the founder of the chain of stores, but also the chairman of the corporate conglomerate Grupo Salinas, the Grupo Elektra corporation, and the owner of the second-largest broadcast television company Azteka. In addition, the man is one of the “founders” of the Unefon organization, the Banco Azteca bank network, other retail stores, a charitable foundation, and is also a member of the International Organization for Migration’s Business Advisory Board.
