As to Alfred Nyobewumusi, an executive at the central bank’s micro-finance office, many of Burundians lost funds while trading digital currencies and it was their initiative as they asked the government to meddle. He stated that now Bitcoin, Ethereum and other coins are illegal in the country.

He also mentioned that the government can take strict actions against those, who will not respect this change in the regulations.
