Australian billionaire and Fortescue Metals founder Andrew Forrest is suing Facebook, accusing the social network of crypto fraud. So, the man claims that recently advertising crypto-ads using his name have begun to appear on the social network. According to the billionaire, the fact that these publications are being checked by Facebook moderators is “criminal recklessness” on the part of the company.
Forrest said that the social network violated the current legislation of Australia, in particular, the law "On money laundering".
“Facebook profited from knowingly posting illegal ads. Realizing that such publications violate my rights, and the rights of other public people who appear in the ad, Facebook did not dare to remove the advertisement, ”said the billionaire.
According to reports, the first court session will take place next month, on March 22. The final decision, experts suggest, the court will announce at the end of the year, because given the resonance of this case, more than one court hearing will be checked.

Analysts, after analyzing the situation and Forrest’s statements, concluded that the case would be “high-profile” because the situation is also heated up by the fact that the crypto project advertised by the social network is fraudulent. So, the billionaire in one of his statements noted that using his name "a scam deceived people of millions of dollars."
In particular, Forrest emphasized that many citizens suffered from the advertised crypto project. According to the billionaire, he is aware of a man who fell "at the bait of scammers", losing 952 thousand Australian dollars.
As for the social network Facebook, until today the company has not commented on the scandal that has flared up around it.
