The NFT introducing the original code for the WWW, built by English programmer Tim Berners-Lee in 1989, was sold for $5.4 M. Sotheby's held the process of the online auction, which was completed on June 30.

Berners-Lee built the NFT in 2021. It gives ownership of a number of digital pieces from 1989. It's important to note that not the W3 itself, but the blockchain-ensured rights of possesion of files holding the source code were purchased.
The known by perhaps everybody WWW is a compilation of websites or pages collected in servers and linked with local computers via the internet.
There are NFTs reflecting nearly 9,555 lines of code included in the trade. Additionally, it presents an animation, sign, and letter by the inventor in June 2021, when he was 34 years old. The auction started on June 23, with a minimum bid at $1000.
During an interview with the Guardian, Berners-Lee said it was like selling a photo of a code built with Python that resembles a code stuck on the wall and autographed by him.
