The Cardano blockchain finalized its Vasil hard fork which is supposed to level up the network performance.

Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK), the company standing behind the development of Cardano tweeted that Vasil is the most important update of the protocol. According to IOHK, the update will enhance network capacity and decrease costs for transactions. In addition the Vasil hard fork will improve Cardano's smart contract platform Plutus. This will enable developers to build more efficient decentralized apps.

We’re happy to announce that today, at 21:44:00 UTC, the IOG team, in collaboration with the @CardanoStiftung, successfully hard forked the Cardano mainnet via a HFC event, thus deploying new #Vasil features to the chain.

After the Vasil hard fork, there will be an upgrade to the Plutus coding language, which is planned to occur on Sept 27. Due to this update, developers will be able to program smart contracts more easily with less code.
