Alphabet CEO Says the Tech Giant Is Looking at Blockchain

Sundar Pichai, the Chief Executive Officer of Google’s parent company Alphabet, talked about blockchain and web 3 during Google's quarterly earnings call.

Reportedly, it was the first time the executive publicly commented on the industry.

Pichai said that he's always excited to explore innovations and the company wants to support new technologies at their best. He added that on Web 3, the company is certainly looking at blockchain, as it's an interesting and powerful tech with various types of apps.

Alphabet CEO also mentioned that the tech giant is exploring ways to contribute to the ecosystem and add value. As an example, he noted that the Cloud team is discovering how to build and deploy new products on platforms powered by blockchain.

According to data from companiesmarket.com, Google now is the 4th most valuable company in the world with a market cap of over $1.9 trillion, coming after Apple, Microsoft, and Saudi Aramco. The company’s quarter 4 revenue revenue growth was 32%, which surpassed the expectations. Since May 2020, shares of Alphabet stock have doubled in price.
