What is Litecoin?
Everything has begun in 2011. This was exactly when the Litecoin was proclaimed on GitHub. Charlie Lee was the one who launched this coin. Lee was a Coinbase Engineering Head in past and a worker of Google corporation. He is pretty active and promoted on social networks unlike Bitcoin’s unknown author or authors. This coin is the first known altcoin. Litecoin is supposed to be the third oldest token which still continues its existence. This altcoin is a decentralized P2P crypto coin that works on a blockchain. Though it was sourced from the Bitcoin’s code, it varies from Bitcoin mainly by the interval of time when the block is generated. Litecoin also operates on the SHA-256 algorithm, which is not exploited by Bitcoin. This altcoin gives an opportunity to make zero-cost, instant transactions in all corners of the world. The prominent improvement of this coin is that it takes over 2.5 minutes to make a transaction. In November 2013 Litecoin’s market capitalization came to $1 billion. Coin’s cost was $4.3 when the token formed. The value of Litecoin got higher by 8000% in December 2017 and cost $334.15. As of April 2019, this was the highest cost of the coin.
