Shopify’s Tobias Lütke Joined Coinbase Board of Directors

CEO of leading commerce platform, Shopify, Tobias Lütke, now is one of board directors at Coinbase.

Lütke tweeted that he's excited to join Coinbase and respects what the company does.

In the published blog post, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said that Shopify CEO was among the first ones to adopt crypto, and the platform integrated with the payment service of the company.

He said that Tobi’s becoming a part of Coinbase board delivers a large number of skills and expertise to it.

Coinbase continues to work on expanding its online commerce capabilities. The company also increases the number of its partnerships to unlock new possibilities for users.

Earlier this month, the crypto platform built a partnership with Mastercard to make NFT purchases more available. Due to the collaboration, consumers will be able to acquire NFTs paying with their Mastercard cards.

Soon, Coinbase NFT, the peer-to-peer marketplace of NFTs will go live.

In July 2021, Shopify announced enabling direct sales of NFTs on its platform. The CEO Tobi Lutke has been interested in the crypto industry and previously asked for DeFi advice on Twitter. He also bought an Ethereum domain name and currently uses CryptoPunk NFT as his profile picture.
